We’ve previously reviewed an expandable winder from Boxy, and the only surprise is that this design isn’t more widespread. One of the guarantees about any watch collector is that they will probably grow that collection at one point or another. Many winder companies have not addressed this.
Wolf Designs recently upgraded their version of a ‘stackable’ winder in the shape of the 4.1 (no prizes for figuring out the previous version was the 4.0). This unit comes with many of the usual style touches and attributes that Wolf include in the rest of their range, but at a much lower price point.
The key difference between this winder and the others in Wolf’s portfolio is the exterior. In order to accommodate the connectivity of units they have stripped down the container to its bare minimum and grooved sections on all four sides in order to fit runners. It’s an daring move for a company which is rooted in beautiful case design.
